(Howick, ON) On November 26, 2009 at approximately 5:00 pm a Huron OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Belmore Line in Howick Township. As a result of questioning the two occupants inside the vehicle, both were arrested and searched. A quantity of cannabis marihuana was located with the male driver. A search of the vehicle led to the officer locating a further quantity of marihuana as well as open liquor.
As a result of the investigation, Douglas WOODS (55) of Teeswater and Lauri STURGEON (47) of Teeswater were both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. Both individuals were also issued Provincial Offence Notices for the charge of Have Liquor in Open Container in Other Than Licenced Premised. Additionally, Douglas WOODS was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both will answer to their Criminal Code charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham on January 21, 2010.
