(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid more than two dozen charges against two people that were caught early this morning trying to steal a pickup truck from a Bluewater residence.
Early this morning around 12:53 a.m. Huron OPP officers were notified of a pickup truck that was stolen from residence located on Airport Line. Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and as they were doing so they were receiving live up dates as to the location of the mobile vehicle. Officers were able to get the vehicle immobilized after it left the roadway into a farmer’s field located near the intersection of London Road and Walnut Road.
Both occupants took off running and attempted to flee. The passenger tripped and fell and was quickly arrested. The driver managed to evade police for a short while however with the assistance of an OPP Canine Unit the co-accused was located and taken into custody.
Joseph CLUETT, 24 years of age from West Perth has been charged with the following offences:
Theft Over $5,000
Trespassing at Night
Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle
Possession of Break-in Instruments
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
Mischief Under $5,000
Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
Failure to Comply with Release Order – Two Counts
Fail to Comply with Probation Order – Two Counts
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
Operation While Prohibited
Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to Prohibition Order – Two Counts
He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 3, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
Chantelle DAW, 26 years of age from London has been charged with the following offences:
Theft Over $5,000
Trespassing at Night
Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle
Possession of Break-in Instruments
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
Mischief Under $5,000
Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 4 counts
Fail to Comply with Release Order – 7 counts
She also remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 3, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
