(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – One person is now facing multiple charges after assaulting police while in custody.
On September 15 2020, just after 8:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted after a person kicked and damaged a vehicle that was parked on Main Street East, in Listowel. When police arrived moments later, the suspect was arrested near-by. The same suspect had been involved in a mischief occurrence at a residence on September 14 2020, and was additionally arrested for that occurrence.
The accused was then transported to the Perth County OPP detachment, in the Township of Perth East, where they became combative, and assaulted two OPP officers. One officer received minor injuries in the altercation, and the other was not injured.
Further, the accused committed a mischief in the cell area at the OPP detachment, which resulted in an additional charge.
Ryanal Devon ERB, 38, of North Perth, has been charged with:
Mischief Over $5000 (three counts)
Fail to Comply with Probation (eight counts)
Assault Police Officer (two counts)
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
