(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 34-year-old from Goderich with three criminal charges following a shoplifting occurrence that took place in Exeter last weekend.
Just after 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2020 Huron OPP received a call from a business located on Thames Road East about a male that just left the store without paying for some items.
The male fled the store however the accused was identified by an eye witness and was located and arrested by police shortly thereafter.
Upon searching the male police found him to be in possession of a set of stolen sunglasses and suspected fentanyl. In addition, some checks on the male determined he was currently on probation and was failing to comply with a condition of his probation release.
Bailey MERRITT, 34 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of a Schedule I Substance and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 16, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
