(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On October 16, 2020 at 6:15 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint involving a (black) car stuck in mud at a property near the intersection of William Street and McNaughton Street, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
Grey Bruce OPP officers attended and observed the driver with signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for impaired driving by drug and was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton. A Drug Recognition Expert completed an evaluation with this driver.
As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Christopher BOWMAN, 44 years-of-age from South Bruce Peninsula, ON with the following offences,
Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
Failing to comply with a Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC
The involved vehicle was towed and will be impounded for 7 days.
The accused was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 17, 2020.
