(PERTH EAST, ON) – A Tiverton driver has been charged after driving while impaired and crashing into a field.
On November 15 2020, just before 02:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a vehicle that had driven straight though the stop sign at Line 43 at Perth Road 119, in the Township of Perth East, and crashed in a field.
The investigation revealed that the driver, who was westbound on Line 43, failed to stop at the stop sign at Perth Road 119, which is a T intersection. The truck then drove into a farm field where it came to rest. The driver was not injured in the collision.
During the course of the investigation, the responding officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing, where two samples of breath provided were more than double the legal limit.
As a result, Tyler TODD, 23, of Tiverton, has been charged with:
Operation While Impaired -Alcohol and Drugs
Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
