(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A driver that laid on his horn late at night in Wingham certainly wasn’t too discrete about driving around town while over the legal limit.
At approximately 11:44 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2020 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was drawn to the sound of a loud honking horn coming from a pickup truck that was heading northbound out of Wingham on Josephine Street.
The officer followed after the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Howick-Turnberry Road. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol coming from the driver. A search of the vehicle also revealed a passenger in the vehicle was in possession of open alcohol.
A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a Fail. He was immediately placed under arrest and was transported to the Listowel OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of his breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were determined to be above the legal limit.
