Honking Horn On Josephine St Ends With Drunk Driving Charge For 24 Year Old From Teeswater – FISCHER

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A driver that laid on his horn late at night in Wingham certainly wasn’t too discrete about driving around town while over the legal limit.

At approximately 11:44 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2020 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was drawn to the sound of a loud honking horn coming from a pickup truck that was heading northbound out of Wingham on Josephine Street.

The officer followed after the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Howick-Turnberry Road. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol coming from the driver. A search of the vehicle also revealed a passenger in the vehicle was in possession of open alcohol.

A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a Fail. He was immediately placed under arrest and was transported to the Listowel OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of his breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were determined to be above the legal limit.

Kolton FISCHER, 24 years of age from Teeswater has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for June 29, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. His motor vehicle was towed and his licence was suspended for an automatic 90 days.
