Drone Returning From Prison Run Gets Snagged In Tree

(KINGSTON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad has seized a drone near Collins Bay Institution in Kingston.

On April 8, 2020 at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Penitentiary Squad, Kingston Police Service and Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) responded to suspicious activity near the penitentiary.

An officer observed a drone caught in a tree along Arbour Street. The investigation revealed that the drone was on its way back from the Institution. The drone was removed from the tree with the assistance of Utilities Kingston.

The investigation remains ongoing with members of the OPP-led Joint-Forces Penitentiary Squad, which includes the Kingston Police and CSC, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
