(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A 61-year-old from Port Albert is now without a vehicle and a driver’s licence for the week following a traffic stop that was conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this week.
Just before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 a Huron OPP officer was conducting RADAR patrol on Nile Road when a sport utility vehicle was observed travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the RADAR device and measured the speed of the target vehicle at a rate in excess of 60 km/h over the 80 km/h posted speed limit.
A traffic stop ensued and the driver was subsequently charged. Linda BIRKS, 61 years of age from Port Albert has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle. The defendant will now have to attend Provincial Offences Court in Goderich on June 16, 2020 to answer to the charge. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were both seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
