(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A traffic stop in Clinton this past weekend by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in charges being laid against Clinton resident.
At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020 a Huron OPP officer observed a car being driven in an aggressive manner in Clinton thus it prompted the officer to initiate a traffic stop.
The car was stopped on King Street in Clinton and upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver. In addition the officer spied an open can of beer in the console.
A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail. As a result the driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of her breath to the intoxilizer technician and both test were analyzed to be over the legal limit.
Patricia SANDERSON, 61 years of age, from Clinton has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus and Drive Motor Vehicle With Liquor Readily Available. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 6, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. Her motor vehicle was impounded and her driver’s licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
