(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On Monday January 4, 2021 at 08:11 a.m. a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the area of Hamilton Rd. and Clarke Rd., located in the City of London, for a traffic related offence. During the course of the traffic stop the officer soon learned that the driver was suspended from driving and was found in possession of a controlled substance.
As a result of an investigation police have charged Zackary FURSMAN – age 28- of London, ON., with:
- Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code as per section 320.18(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine as per section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs-CDSA 4(1)
- Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court as per section 145(5)(a) CC
- CC 117.01(1) Possession of prohibited weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order as per section 117.01(1)
- The accused has also been charged with two counts under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and one count under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on March 26, 2021 to speak to the charges.
