Reid HAWES – Drunk Driving

(COUNTY of BRANT, ON) – A member of the County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on patrol was alerted to a vehicle travelling a high rate of speed on December 14, 2020 at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Bayly Drive in Paris in the County of Brant.

The vehicle was located travelling 105 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone.

Police stopped the vehicle and determined through investigation that the driver had been drinking alcohol and the driver was arrested.

OPP investigators have charged Reid HAWES 26-years-old of The County of Brant with Stunt driving and speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario and the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol or drug Section 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus Contrary to Section 320.14(1) (b)

The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date to answer to the charges. If convicted, the offender will be subject to the Criminal Code penalties, including a fine or jail time, and a driving prohibition.
