(NORTH BAY, ON) – Two people charged following a traffic stop.
On August 24, 2024 at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a notification from the Automated Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) and stopped the subject vehicle on Highway 17, Papineau-Cameron Township.
Through investigation police learned the vehicle was stolen. Additionally, open liquor, suspected cannabis and oxycodone were located inside.
As a result, two occupants were arrested, and the vehicle was towed.
The driver, Cameren JAHTRA, 33 years-of-age of Montreal was charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Possession of a schedule II substance – Oxycodone
- Drive motor vehicle no licence
- Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
The passenger, Kyle ROTAR, 29 years-of-age of Newmarket was charged with possession of schedule II substance – Oxycodone.
Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on September 24, 2024.
