On February 12, 2021, the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Traffic Services Unit arrested and charged a 27-year-old Hamilton male in connection to a Fail to Remain collision involving a Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services ambulance that occurred in Kitchener on Dec 28, 2020. The male has been charged with Dangerous Operation, Fail to Stop after Accident, and Obstruct Police.

On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at 6 p.m., members of the Waterloo Regional Police Central Patrol and Traffic Service’s Unit located the suspect motor vehicle involved in this collision. The investigation remains ongoing and charges are pending.

On Monday, December 28, 2020, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of King Street East at Fairview Avenue in Kitchener for a hit and run collision involving a vehicle and a Region of Waterloo Paramedic Service’s Ambulance. The Ambulance was travelling west on route to the hospital with a patient on board when it was struck by a vehicle travelling east. The impact caused damage along the driver’s side of both vehicles. The Ambulance stopped, however, the other vehicle failed to remain and was last seen travelling east toward Ottawa Street. The paramedic driving the ambulance suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital in a second Ambulance. The paramedic in the back, along with the patient on board were not injured. King Street was closed to traffic until 10:30 p.m. The investigation remains ongoing by the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Traffic Unit.
