On December 28, 2020, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of Edward Street and Johnston Avenue in Cambridge for a report of a robbery. The victim had arranged to sell an item online through a buy and sell website and met with unknown individuals in a nearby parking lot. During the exchanged the victim was approached by two males, one of which was brandishing a gun.
The males robbed the victim and were last seen fleeing on foot. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries. The first suspect has been described as male, white, approximately 6′ tall, with a thin build, wearing black clothing and a dark mask. The race of the second suspect is unknown at this time, however, they have been described as male, approximately 5’5” tall, with a thin build wearing dark clothing and a mask. Waterloo Regional Police would like to remind the public of the buy and sell exchange zone at North Division, located at 45 Columbia Street in Waterloo. The public is encouraged to use this location when meeting to exchange items. Other safety tips to consider while exchanging items are: bring a friend or let someone know when and where your meeting is taking place, don’t carry a large amount of cash with you, and be wary of the location changing at the last minute.
