A 24-year-old Guelph male has been arrested on luring charges after arranging to meet up with a 12-year-old girl. When the male arrived at the meeting spot Wednesday morning he was instead met by members of the Guelph Police Service.
On December 8, 2020, members of the Guelph Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit entered into an investigation after learning an adult male was having sexual conversations with a child. During these conversations an in-person meeting was arranged.
A Guelph male was arrested and charged with luring a person under the age of 16 and agreement to commit a sexual offence against a person under the age of 16. He was subsequently released with conditions including one banning him from possessing any device which can access the internet.
Approximately 90 minutes after his release the male was observed at a commercial establishment purchasing a new cell phone and SIM card and was arrested for breaching his release conditions. He is scheduled to appear in a Guelph court March 23, 2021.
