$20,000 Smash & Grab – One Arrested

On January 16 and January 18, 2021, optical stores in Kitchener and Waterloo were the victims of break and enters. Approximately $20,000 worth of merchandise was stolen as a result. Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft Team continued the investigation into the break and enters.

On January 21, 2021, police completed a search warrant at a residence in the Rockway area of Kitchener. As a result, police recovered numerous pairs of the stolen glasses and other stolen property. Police also recovered several imitation firearms. As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with several criminal offences, including two counts of Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000 and Possession of Break and Enter Instruments. The male has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
