(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people in connection with a weekend a home invasion robbery in Renfrew.
It happened on Saturday, August 24, 2024, around 6:00 p.m. on Bonnechere Street South. Individuals broke into the home and assaulted the resident, who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The homeowner’s car was found on fire a short time later on Briscoe Road and two people were arrested.
Maged KASSIS, age 35 of Renfrew and Jenevieve LEMAIRE, age 31 of Grand Calumet Island have been charged with:
- Robbery with violence
- Aggravated assault
- Forcible confinement
- Arson – damage to property
- Theft of a vehicle
- Theft under $5000
- Break and enter
KASSIS has additionally been charged with:
- Assault a peace officer
- Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts
Both individuals have been remanded in custody until appearances later this week before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
An arrest warrant has been issued for a third person and investigators are looking for public assistance to identify a fourth person. A photo is attached.
It is believed this was a targeted incident and there is no risk to the general public.
