Impaired Driver Arrested Following Collision – Name Released

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener resident with Impaired driving offences following a collision investigation on June 1st, 2023. 

At 9:31 p.m. on June 1st, Huron County OPP officers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a tractor trailer combination in Bayfield, Municipality of Bluewater. In speaking to the driver of the pickup truck, the investigating officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation.

The accused was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton to provide breath tests before a qualified Intoxilyzer Technician. Suitable breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Kyle TSCHIRHART, 23 years of age from Kitchener has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 31st, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
