(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged both a driver and a passenger following a traffic stop conducted last week north of Blyth.
On May 6, 2021 at approximately 2:43 p.m. a Huron OPP officer was patrolling northbound on London Road when the officer came across a southbound sedan that was pulling an utility trailer. The investigating officer recognized both the driver and passenger as two individuals wanted on outstanding warrants. Consequently the officer followed the vehicle a short distance to a private drive where the vehicle came to a stop.
The driver was immediately placed under arrest and shortly after the passenger was also taken into custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in police seizing a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
Michael CHAPMAN, 51 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with the following new criminal charges:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Operation While Prohibited
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 11, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
Katherine UPSHALL, 46 years of age from Central Huron is facing the following new charges:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Mischief Under $5,000
The accused was remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 11, 2021.
