(WEST PERTH, ON) – A driver who was speeding excessively was found to be driving while impaired in Perth County earlier this month.
Just after 2:00 a.m. on December 06 2020, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on general patrol on Line 34, in the Municipality of West Perth, when a vehicle was stopped after it was found to be travelling in excess of 140km/h in a posted 80km/h zone. During the course of the investigation, the officer determined that the driver has consumed alcohol, and was impaired. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing, where two samples of breath were provided.
As a result, Jamie MOTT, 34, of West Perth, has been charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
- Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed
- Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
