(BLUEWATER, ON) – A Bluewater resident is facing charges of Operation While Impaired & Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus following a rear-end collision that took place on St. Patrick’s Day.
Shortly before midnight on Thursday, March 17, 2022 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a two-vehicle crash located on Blackbush Line near Sararas Road. Upon arrival officers located a completely destroyed compact vehicle that had collided with the rear end of a farm truck that had broken down.
Upon speaking with the driver of the compact vehicle the investigating officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was transported to a local hospital for assessment for minor injuries, as well, he provided breath tests to the Intoxilizer Technician. His breath tests were analyzed and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.
Mitchell SMITH, 28 years of age from Bluewater has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus.
The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 11, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
