17 Year Old Ditch Drunk Driver Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Goderich youth with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a single vehicle collision into a ditch and a failed roadside test on July 14th, 2023. 

On July 14th at 10:30 p.m., Huron County OPP officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision into a ditch on Bannockburn Line at Roman Road in the Municipality of Central Huron. Police spoke with the involved young driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest. 

The accused provided two suitable breath samples to the Intoxilyzer Technician at the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton, and both tests exceeded the legal limit. 

A 17-year-old youth from Goderich has been charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused youth was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on September 14th, 2023.

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
