$156,000 Meth Bust In Mitchell & Stratford -Repeat Offender Arrested

(HURON and PERTH COUNTIES, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Grey-Bruce Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Stratford Police Street Crime Team, and the Huron OPP resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs, cash, weapons, and offence-related property with a total value exceeding $156,000.

On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at approximately 8:35 a.m. an individual was located and arrested in the Town of Mitchell, West Perth as a result of a drug trafficking investigation. Following their arrest, two search warrants were executed at locations on West Gore Street in Stratford, and Homes Street in Mitchell.

As a result of the investigation, police seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and hydromorphone capsules. Other seized items included digital scales, packaging material, cellular phones, a BB gun, 3D printed handgun components, a functioning taser, stolen police shirts and a police badge. The suspects’ vehicle and a quantity of Canadian currency was also seized.

The combined estimated value of the seized drugs is $133,300.00.

The combined estimated value of the seized property is $22,700.00.

Canadian currency seized is $485.00.

Kevin BARRY, 44 years of age from Stratford has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime,
  • Possession of a Weapon contrary to Prohibition Order,
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon – (taser).

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, then later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 13th, 2023, in the Stratford Ontario Court of Justice.
